Kuwaiti shooter Al-Afasi qualifies to Brazil Olympics '16 after winning Bronze medal
Kuwaiti shooter Hamad Al-Afasi qualified for the Olympic Games in Brazil 2016 after his participation in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Championship on Tuesday, currently held in Lonato, Italy.
Al-Afasi was able to win third place in the Double Trap tourney for Men, after a fierce competition and close action from Australian James Willett, but the Kuwaiti shooter was able to win a decisive shot, after both tied with 24 shots in the fourth decisive round.
British shooter Tim Kenale won the gold medal and Russian shooter Mosin Vasily won the Silver medal in this competition.
Al-Afasi was able to advance in the semi-final round after competing with six shooters.
The result today by Al-Afasi, 32, comes after a hard fight in the preliminary rounds against 70 shooters.
Kuwait now has two shooters who qualified for the Olympic Games in Brazil 2016, after Khaled Al-Mudhaf last Sunday won in the Men's Trap competition.
The Shotgun World Championship is expected to conclude next Friday.
