Deputy FM initiates introductory workshop on upcoming humanitarian summit
Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Sulaiman Al-Jarallah initiated an introductory workshop Wednesday on the forthcoming World Humanitarian Summit, slated for next week in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
In a speech at the workshop, Al-Jarallah asserted that the foreign ministry strives to showcase Kuwait's devotion to humanitarian causes, as the country is set to participate in the upcoming summit.
"Putting together this workshop is means of demonstrating Kuwait's unified and coherent efforts in the humanitarian arena," Al-Jarallah noted.
"Holding this workshop is an opportunity for us to discuss issues that are expected to be addressed at the summit, as well as expectations of certain outcomes that the summit would yield," he added.
Al-Jarallah also thanked the United Nations' (UN) office of humanitarian affairs for its contributions to the workshop, saying their expertise in the field was of great value.
Turkey, home to the biggest quota of refugees in the world, is set to host the World Humanitarian Summit, with representatives of more than 155 nations and organizations, in addition to 50 heads of states and governments.
Some of humanity's most binding dilemmas and ways to boost cooperation in humanitarian fields are amongst chief issues to be discussed at the summit.
