Al-Essa discusses educational cooperation with S. Korean universities
Visiting Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Bader Al-Essa discussed means of boosting cooperation in the fields of education and sciences with a number of universities in South Korea.
 
One of the main issues that were touched on was sending Kuwaiti students on scholarships to South Korea to complete their education.
 
The Kuwaiti minister, and his delegation, toured a number of high schools and universities in South Korea and got familiarized with the advanced education processes and systems that are being followed in the East Asian country.
 
The Kuwaiti delegation also visited Kookmin University, one of the country's leading universities in technology and computer, where they discussed the possibility of sending Kuwaiti students to finish their post-graduate studies.
 
Hanyang University, one of the nation's top ranking institutions, was one of the educational institutions that were visited by the Kuwaiti delegation.
 
Al-Essa discussed with Hanyang University President Young Moo Lee means of collaboration in all academic and scientific domains.
 
In March, Hanyang University announced the establishment of "Kuwait Center," which aimed at transforming the university into a focal point of academic interaction between South Korea and the Gulf nations. This initiative was the product of cooperation with Kuwait Public Authority for Applied Education (PAAET).
 
Hanyang University, established in 1939, is the nation's first engineering institute. Hanyang University has an alumni network of 300,000 that is not limited to the field of engineering but also to other fields. It enrolls over 2,000 foreign students each year and more than 3,000 students study abroad annually. The Kuwaiti Minister's visit to educational institutes comes within the framework of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah's visit to South Korea.
