Diabetes challenges nation's development plans -- Health Min.
Diabetes has become a major challenge to successful efforts at sustainable growth and development in the country, said Minister of Health Dr. Ali Al-Obaidi on Saturday.

The Ministry of Health is committed to providing all necessary treatments to diabetic patients in concert with the WHO and other relevant international organizations, said the minister in a speech opening the fourth diabetes conference which is slated to last two days.

His speech was read for him by assistant secretary for medical services at the ministry of health Dr. Mohammad Al-Khishti.

The minister noted in his speech that the conference reviews the latest approaches and methodologies in the treatment of diabetic patients and allows health professionals to compare notes and expertise on this widely occurring disease.

He said the conference offers workshops supervised by health professionals from the medical college at Radcliff University in the United Kingdom, one of the specialized and internationally recognized diabetes treatment centers.
