Morocco suspends Ikea store opening over diplomatic tensions
The Moroccan government suspended the opening of the first Ikea store in the country after diplomatic issues with the Moroccan-controlled Western Sahara, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Le 360, an outlet affiliated with the Moroccan royal palace, reported the block had been related to expressed Swedish support over the Western Sahara movement. The AP did not get an immediate comment from the company, which was founded in Sweden but now Dutch-owned.

The company was slated to open the store on Tuesday, but the Moroccan Interior Ministry said the building lacked the "certificate of conformity," according to AP. The building had been built near Casablanca.

The suspension was announced shortly after an "emergency meeting" held Monday by the Moroccan government, according to the AP.
