Swiss clubs to donate €455 to refugee charities for every goal scored
SyndiGate.info
Clubs in the Super League and Challenge League, Switzerland's top two domestic competitions, are set to donate €455 to refugee charities for every goal scored this weekend.

The figure, thought to be able to support a family of refugees for three months, will be donated to various charities that aim to support refugees, in a bid to help alleviate the ongoing crisis in Europe as people flee war and oppression in the Middle East.

The Swiss football authorities are the latest body from the football world to commit to donating to refugee causes.

Sinisa Mihajlovic and Roberto Mancini, the managers of AC Milan and Inter Milan, have announced that the winner of Sunday's Milan derby will donate to help refugees.

The European Club Association (ECA) have also called for all clubs competing in the Champions League and Europa League to donate a portion of their ticket sales to charities aiding refugees.

Wide-ranging support has come from Germany, with the country being the destination of choice for many Syrian refugees, as fans displayed banners welcoming refugees and Dortmund travelled to St Pauli for a friendly in support of those migrating from the Middle East.
