UN passes resolution urging probe into Syria chemical attacks
The United Nations Security Council on Friday unanimously passed a resolution asking UN chief Ban Ki Moon to launch a probe to identify the perpetrators of a series of chemical weapons attack in Syria, the Associated Press reported.

The resolution asks Ban to coordinate with the head of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to submit recommendations for the establishment of an investigative body within 20 days. The body will be tasked with identifying “to the greatest extent feasible individuals, entities, groups, or governments” involved in any chemical attacks in Syria.

Identifying the entities responsible for poison gas attacks in Syria could pave the way for action by the 15-member Security Council, AP reported.
